WHAT IS LASER LIPOLYSIS AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Laser Lipolysis is a safe and minimally-invasive procedure in which a fine (1.5mm) fibre-optic laser is placed under the skin under local anaesthetic. The laser heats the fat cells, causing them to break down. The liquefied fat can then be removed with gentle suction or for smaller areas it can be left to be safely and simply eliminated by natural means. The laser also stimulates collagen production, to give a smooth, sculptured finish with a skin tightening effect.

WHERE CAN LASER LIPOLYSIS BE USED?

Laser Lipolysis can be used on most parts of the body. It works on areas of unwanted fat such as:

  • Double chin
  • Upper arms
  • Tummy/abdomen
  • Love handles
  • Knees
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Hips
  • Bottoms

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Laser Lipolysis is a fantastic alternative to traditional liposuction

  • Very effective at removing unwanted fatty deposits
  • The laser releases heat which stimulates collagen production; this results in gradual skin contraction so you are not left with loose skin once the fat has disappeared
  • The procedure is carried out under a local anaesthetic
  • Minimal discomfort and quick recovery with most patients returning to non-strenuous daily activities the next day
  • Side effects typically associated with traditional liposuction such as pain, bruising, scarring and irregularities are significantly reduced.

PREPARING FOR THE TREATMENT

An initial consultation is required with the doctor where a full medical history will be taken and your suitability for the treatment will be assessed. The benefits, potential side effects and any concerns or queries you have will be discussed in full.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?

Laser Lipolysis is a minimally invasive procedure performed under local anaesthetic; you will therefore be awake throughout the procedure and any discomfort should be minimal. You may however feel a tugging or mild stinging sensation during the procedure.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE TREATMENT?

Laser Lipolysis is a very effective treatment with most people seeing improvements after six to eight weeks. The final results however can take six to seven months (sometimes longer), depending on the severity of the treatment. The results of the treatment are permanent, however, like any fat reduction treatment, a sensible diet and lifestyle is necessary to maintain results. Most patients get their desired results with a single treatment, however for larger areas, it may be necessary to have more than one session.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

It is very important that you follow the advice of your doctor carefully after the treatment to help to ensure the success of the procedure and reduce the risk of complications.

Post treatment recommendations:

  • You are advised to wear a compression garment (supplied by the clinic) for 2-3 weeks for treatments on the body and for 12-24 hours for treatments on the face and under the chin.
  • Avoid vigorous physical activity and sport for 1-2 weeks after the treatment. Please note that during high impact exercise such as jogging, you may feel a background ache in the treatment area for several weeks. Wearing the compression garment whilst exercising will reduce any discomfort.
  • Keep the area clean and dry for 2-3 days following the treatment.
  • Complications are very rare however to prevent the theoretical risk of infection you will be provided with a short course (5 days) of antibiotics.

After Laser Lipolysis treatment there may be some minor swelling, bruising or tenderness for a few days however the majority of patients can return to non strenuous work and daily activities the following day.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR LASER LIPOLYSIS?

Laser Lipolysis is suitable for people who are of an average weight and build but have specific localised areas of stubborn fat (double chin, love handles, inner and outer thighs, hips, bottom, knees, abdomen etc). The treatment however should not be considered a weight loss procedure.

IS LASER LIPOLYSIS SAFE AND ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Laser Lipolysis is a safe and simple procedure. The technique is FDA approved and is extensively used throughout Europe, North America, Brazil, the Far East and Australia without any serious problems reported.

After the treatment you can expect some mild swelling and possible tenderness in the area treated for 5-10 days. You may also notice some bruising in the area if the treatment has been combined with aspiration/suction of the liquefied fat.

HOW MUCH DOES THE TREATMENT COST?

The cost of Laser Lipolysis treatment depends on the size of the area(s) being treated and the number of areas you have done at one treatment session.

First Area £2000
Second Area £1500 Treated at the same time

Most cases need only one treatment however if treating larger areas, a further treatment may be necessary 4 months after your initial treatment. The discounted price of any subsequent treatments will be discussed during your consultation.
