SILHOUETTE THREADLIFT
A minimally invasive procedure to lift the cheeks and jowls.
WHAT IS THE SILHOUETTE THREADLIFT?
The Silhouette ThreadLift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses the new Silhouette Sutures/Threads to reposition and lift sagging tissue in the midface: cheek and jowls.
WHAT ARE SILHOUETTE SUTURES/THREADS?
Silhouette Sutures are the latest FDA approved sutures used in Threadlift procedures. They are made of 3.0 polypropylene which allows for better results than with the old conventional “barbed” sutures.
HOW ARE SILHOUETTE SUTURES DIFFERENT TO BARBED ONES?
Barbed sutures are created when cuts are made in the shaft of a conventional suture, weakening the inherent strength of the thread. The advantage of the Silhouette Suture is that there are no barbs to cause discomfort or a prickling sensation. Instead, the Silhouette Sutures utilise clear, flexible, absorbable cones. Tissue growth inside and around these cones create a much stronger anchoring mechanism and a longer lasting tissue suspension.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED AND AM I SUITABLE?
In general, the best candidates for this procedure include both men and women between the ages of thirty to sixty-five who have sagging of their cheeks and/or jowls. The best candidates desire a quick, low risk procedure to achieve a more youthful appearance, without the scars, risks, recovery or expense of surgery.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
The ThreadLift procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. A typical procedure usually takes about 60 minutes to complete and patients are able to go home soon after the procedure, although a driver or taxi is recommended.
HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY?
In general, your skin will feel swollen and tight for 2-3 days after the procedure. Patients will be provided will analgesia to take home with them so pain and discomfort is minimal. Most patients can apply make-up and resume quiet activities the following day. Depending on your job and your tolerance to minor bruising and swelling, you may be able to return to work after a few days however we would advise that you take 7-10 days off.
POST PROCEDURE AFTERCARE
There are some special protective measures and instructions that patients must follow to avoid trauma and disruption to the threads: Avoid too many facial expressions, chewing gum or hard food, facial massage or facials and sleeping on your face for 3-4 weeks.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
The ThreadLift effects are immediate but improvements will continue to be seen over the next 3-6 months due to the collagen production stimulated by the threads. Whilst the Silhouette ThreadLift does not replace a traditional surgical face lift, it can and does offer a safe and viable alternative with amazing results. The amount of lift you are likely to achieve will be demonstrated during you consultation.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
The duration of improvement varies depending on the age of the patient at the time of the procedure, the degree of sagging, and the number of threads used. Men and women alike have participated in the rigorous 3 year trial period using the Silhouette Threadlift – both achieved persistent outstanding results.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
The Silhouette ThreadLift procedure is a relatively simple procedure to perform by a trained doctor. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic; therefore there are none of the risks associated with a general anaesthetic. Complications are rare but since this technique is entirely reversible, unwanted effects are usually easily corrected under local anaesthetic.
CAN THIS PROCEDURE BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?
This is a stand-alone procedure however it is not uncommon to have this procedure combined with other rejuvenating treatments e.g. Botox to reduce facial muscle activity, dermal fillers to enhance volume, or peels and laser therapy to improve skin texture.
