DERMATOLOGICAL SKIN SURGERY
Get rid of unsightly lumps and bumps….
WHICH CONDITIONS CAN BE TREATED?
A complimentary consultation will ascertain whether the skin blemishes are suitable for dermatological surgery. Appropriate skin blemishes include:
- Skin Tags
- Moles/Benign Skin Naevi
- Crusting Skin lesions
- Simple or Sebaceous Cysts
- Wart-like Blemishes
Sometimes it is very obvious that a blemish is safe (benign). However, if there is any doubt the blemishes removed are sent to a laboratory for analysis to ensure they are safe.
WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?
A small injection of local anaesthetic is used to numb the area.
- Curettage and Cautery - involves the removal of very superficial tissue using a special surgical instrument therefore causing minimal scarring. If necessary the area is then cauterised.
- Scalpel/Minor surgery - involves excising the blemish using a scalpel. A couple of stitches are then required to achieve the best cosmetic result.
AFTER CARE
The wound will be dressed and must be kept dry for a few days. Stitches will be removed after 7 or 14 days.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
As with all surgical procedures there is a small risk of infection and scarring, which will be discussed prior to your treatment.
