Dermaroller

Roll your way to smoother, brighter, healthier skin

Treatment Info

Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy provides advanced micro-medical skin-needling, a procedure that stimulates the skin to repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.

Genuine Dermaroller™ is only available from trained medical practitioners and authorised clinics.

What is Dermaroller Skin Needling and how does it work?

Dermaroller™ skin needling (also known as collagen induction therapy) uses a sterile medical roller covered in tiny micro needles to create miniscule pin point punctures in the skin. This is perceived by the body as damage, which stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. The body reacts to an injury by initiating the healing process, but usually it will only heal as far as it must to keep you healthy –which is different to healing to a cosmetic level.
Consecutive skin needling sessions however trick your body to continue the healing process and the production of collagen to a cosmetic level, improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars and enlarged pores.

Where can Dermaroller Therapy be used?

Dermaroller Therapy can be carried out all over the face and body however it is typically used on the face and neck, décolletage and hands to significantly improve the appearance of:

  • Scarring including acne scars
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Aged and sun-damaged skin
  • Thin, crêpey skin

Preparing for the treatment

During your consultation with our medical practitioner a full medical history will be taken to assess your suitability, and the benefits and potential side effects will be discussed in full.

What is the treatment like?

Anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin to make the procedure comfortable. The anaesthetic cream will take approximately 30-40 minutes to take effect and then the treatment will take a further 30 minutes depending on the area being treated.

After the treatment

Immediately after your Dermaroller™ Therapy you will look as though you have moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. Mineral make up can be applied directly after the treatment. The redness will start to subside after 1-2 hours and will normally recover within the same day with only slight redness the following day. You can resume normal activities and drive yourself home after the treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

We usually recommend a course of 3 treatments every 6 weeks, although in cases of severe acne scarring further treatments may be required. Whilst not indicated for every patient, skin preparation with active ingredients such as Retin A, for 2 weeks prior to the treatment, will maximise treatment outcomes and assist in speeding the healing time.

When will I begin to see the results?

After the Dermaroller™ procedure your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and the blood supply is enhanced. It can take 6-8 weeks before any signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a natural long lasting enhancement.

Who is not suitable for Dermaroller™ treatment?

Patients who have taken Roaccutane in the last 6 months, have dermatitis or infection in the area to be treated, who are pregnant or who have abnormal wound healing are not suitable for treatment.
